Plein air - first week in Teatro O Bando, Palmela, Portugal
13. June 2010 | SvenOn June 7, 2010 the three week plein air has started – in Palmela, Portugal. The creation of works of visual art / new media for the target group is one of the main goals of Platform 11+. Thirteen visual artists (painter, graphic, illustrator, new media artist, photographer, sculptor etc) from twelve European countries work here in Palmela on themes referring to the schoolyard research and the new theatre texts. Their works will be exhibited on 24 June 2010.
The group of artists is hosted by the Teatro O Bando. The style of the theatre is strongly visual, thanks to the artistic director Jo?o Brites who comes from the Visual Arts. Time and time again, sculptural installations and machines are featured in his productions. During the plein air all the visual artists are invited to confront the magical hill sprinkled with olive trees as well as the artistic philosophy of the host.
The visual artists will work for three weeks in Palmela, each for her or himself, but in close proximity with one another and always together. At the end of the plein air it will be interdisciplinary when the visual and stage artists meet each other at the 2nd Platform 11+ Annual Encounter on 24 June 2010.
