Children Youth Theatre Festival in Oulu
Offering 27 different performances on eight stages!
The coming February’s 29th Oulu International Children’s Theatre Festival offers an extensive professional theatre programme with plenty of interesting things to see and experience for all ages from babies to the elderly. The festival’s theme of fairy tales runs through the repertoire from its modern versions to reinterpretation of the classic fairy tales. All the colourful genres from puppet to dance theatre and pantomime to enchanting traditional theatre’s grand spectacles will be present. Guest star at the main stage will be Joensuu City Theatre’s Saapasjalkakissa ja ihmeellinen papupuu (Puss in Boots and the Amazing Beanstalk) combining two classical fairy tales, a top rap artist from England arrives to direct rhyme art workshops, and a Scandinavian dancers’ coproduction Mind the Gap and Teatteri Airopik & Ehkä ry’s Uri G will be premiering during the festival.
International theatre makers
Oulu City Theatre’s participation in the European wide Platform11+ project will show at the festival in bringing forth some of the partnering theatres’ own children’s theatre productions by Teatro o Bando from Portugal and Teatro Elsinor from Italy. More international flavour to the festival will be provided by performances from Sweden and Russia.
In addition to this, the festival will feature all the traditional events from workshops, seminars and exhibitions bringing you week-long bonafide theatre feast!
